“Many things—such as loving, going to sleep, or behaving unaffectedly— are done worst when we try hardest to do them.”  ~ C.S. Lewis

John 14:27 KJV

“Peace I leave with you; my peace I give you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid.”

Psalms 34:4 MSG

“GOD met me more than halfway, He freed me from my anxious fears.”

Psalms 46:1-7

God is our refuge and strength, an ever-present help in trouble. 2 Therefore we will not fear, though the earth give way and the mountains fall into the heart of the sea, 3 though its waters roar and foam and the mountains quake with their surging. 4 There is a river whose streams make glad the city of God, the holy place where the Most High dwells. 5 God is within her, she will not fall; God will help her at break of day. 6Nations are in uproar, kingdoms fall; he lifts his voice, the earth melts. 7 The LORD Almighty is with us; the God of Jacob is our fortress.

Pray:

“I praise you Oh, Lord for you are near. You are my strength and shield, especially when my heart is weary. I praise you for you are Good. Thank you, for your faithfulness that draws me near to your presence. Holy God, you are righteous, your glory shines like the noon-day sun. Thank you for your supreme authority and hope that is revealed to your people. Lord, I want to live my life with you as King of my heart, in every way. Help me to see with Kingdom eyes, instead of through filters of fear or worry.

Help me to stop striving towards perfection. I want to only strive to know your heart—help me to myself and others — more clearly through Your heart. God, may you be glorified in my life.

Help my mind, will, and emotions to line up to- Your holy design.  My mind needs your peace, today. You are trust worthy. Oh Lord, help me to trust you first, and keep leading my heart back to you. Thank you for the peace you bring to the storms in my life. You are not a God of distance– even as my soul cries out for you and I long to see your face– open my eyes to to see myself and others as you see them. Fill my heart with your peace that surpasses understanding.

Help me to learn to love myself as you love me. Holy Spirit please increase my awareness to your presence as we walk through this day together.

Amen.”

|| BE STILL ||

Read, write [the verses], read again:

Psalms 46:10 NLT

“Be still, and know that I am God: I will be honored by every nation. I will be honored throughout the world.”

1 Corinthians 13:6-7

“Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres.”

Psalms 23:1-6 ESV

“The LORD is my shepherd; I shall not want. He makes me lie down in green pastures. He leads me beside still waters. He restores my soul. He leads me in paths of righteousness for his name’s sake. Even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil, for you are with me; your rod and your staff they comfort me. You prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies; you anointed my head with oil; my cup overflows. Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life, and I shall dwell in the house of the LORD forever.”

Pray:

“Thank you for your peace that gently whispers to my soul and stills me on the busiest days. Thank you for the calm you show me in the most anxious of moments. Lord, teach me to meditate on you and your ways. May these meditations of my heart be pleasing to you. Be still my soul, trust in your God. I will meditate on your promises in the day and in the night. My mind will rest finding hope in your perfect love. Help me to follow in your way.

Be still my soul, trust in your God. Amen.”

Reflect:

Even as a deer pants to water it’s nerves are still. A deer; quick to startle but, not without the capacity to be still and at peace. When you are startled by or in life’s circumstances… what do you do? When circumstances cause you to run, panic, cry in hurt, or freeze in fear— not unlike a deer frozen in the headlights of a moving car— you are not without the capacity for peace because the spirit of God dwells within you. Jesus is the water your soul is quenched for.

So, pant to the water, but be at peace. Speak to your soul today, remind it to be stilled by truth and experience presence of peace.

|| SURRENDERING||

Read, write [the verses], read again:

Psalms 94:22 KJV

“But the LORD is my defense; and my God is the rock of my refuge.”

Psalms 119:92-94 ESV

“If your law had not been my delight, I would have perished in my affliction. I will never forget your precepts, for by them you have given me life. I am yours; save me, for I have sought your precepts.”

1 Corinthians 13:2b-3 ESV

“And if I have prophetic powers, and understand all mysteries, and all knowledge, and if I have all faith, so as to remove mountains, but have not love, I’m nothing. If I give away all I have, and if I deliver up my body to be burned, but have not love, I gain nothing.”

Romans 15:13 AMP

“May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace in believing [through the experience of your faith] that by the power of the Holy Spirit you will abound in hope and overflow with confidence in His promises.”

Pray:

“Lord, in surrendering to your way and your will comes the lasting oil of healing and grace. Thank you, for your love that abounds in every circumstance. Thank you, for the plans you have for me as your beloved. Thank you, for your purposes being continually revealed– in the times it makes sense, as well as, the times that do not.

Please bring certainty in my life as I continue to trust in you. Help me to have the faith to trust you in each part of this day. Jesus, I want to surrender my will to yours. As I wait on you, be my strength in the silences and the wisdom on my lips when it’s my turn to talk. I will choose to trust you with every area of my life today.

Enlighten the eyes of my heart to see you. Holy Spirit open the ears of your servant to know your voice. Embolden me to fight for love in my family, and relationships, today. Help me to use wisdom in the choices I make so that I may glorify and honor you in all that I do. I pray for a contentment and peace that can only be found in center of surrendering to Your will.

Amen.”
